About us
Who We Are
BVUK Blackburn is the local branch of Bharuchi Vohora UK. We are residents serving residents, working to strengthen community connections across Blackburn and the surrounding area.
Our purpose
BVUK Blackburn exists to support the Bharuchi Vohora community in Blackburn and surrounding areas. We aim to strengthen community connections, provide practical support and help residents access the right services.
We are a volunteer-led community group. Our work is built on relationships: knowing our neighbours, understanding local pressures, and making sure nobody has to work out a difficult situation on their own.
Our local Blackburn focus
Blackburn is our home. Our activity is deliberately local: coffee mornings and family days in local venues, elder visits in local neighbourhoods, and advice sessions that refer people to services they can actually reach. We work closely with the council, schools, health services, mosques, charities and other community organisations so that residents get to the right place first time.
BVUK does not discriminate against anyone. We are happy to support people from all communities through our wider services, partner organisations and appropriate communication channels.
How we work
Our values
Respect
We treat every resident with courtesy, patience and dignity.
Integrity
We are honest about what we can and cannot do.
Unity
We bring people together across generations and backgrounds.
Compassion
We listen carefully and respond with genuine care.
Service
We give our time freely for the benefit of the community.
Accountability
We take responsibility for our decisions and our conduct.
Working with residents and partners
When a resident contacts us, a member of the team listens to the situation and agrees what happens next. Most enquiries are answered with clear information or a referral to a local organisation that can help. Where an issue affects several households, we raise it with the relevant public body on behalf of the community.
We keep personal information to a minimum, store it securely and only share it where you have given permission. Confidentiality does not apply where there is a safeguarding concern, serious risk of harm or a legal duty to disclose information.
BVUK Blackburn provides community information, general guidance and signposting. We do not provide regulated legal, medical or financial advice.
