Policies
Group Rules
These rules apply to BVUK Blackburn members, our events and our community messaging channels. They keep our spaces welcoming, safe and useful for everyone.
Respect one another
- Speak to others as you would wish to be spoken to.
- No abuse, insults, threats or discriminatory language.
- Disagree with the point, never attack the person.
- Respect elders, young people and newcomers equally.
Protect privacy
- Do not share another person's contact details, photographs or personal circumstances without permission.
- Do not forward private messages outside the group.
- Do not post about a family's difficulties on their behalf.
Keep information accurate
- Check before sharing news, appeals or warnings.
- Do not circulate rumours or unverified claims.
- Do not present personal opinion as official BVUK Blackburn guidance.
Keep our channels useful
- Community matters, events, support and local information only.
- No party political campaigning and no commercial advertising without approval.
- No fundraising appeals without approval from the team.
Safeguarding comes first
If a message raises a concern about a child or an adult at risk, it will be passed to the safeguarding lead. Confidentiality does not apply where there is a safeguarding concern, serious risk of harm or legal duty to disclose information.
If the rules are broken
A member of the team will usually speak to the person privately first. Repeated or serious breaches may result in removal from a group or withdrawal of membership, decided by the chairman.
