Equality Statement

BVUK Blackburn does not discriminate against anyone. We are happy to support people from all communities through our wider services, partner organisations and appropriate communication channels.

Our commitment

We treat every person fairly regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Our activities are open, our language is plain, and our volunteers are expected to uphold this statement at all times.

How this works in practice

  • Venues are chosen with step-free access wherever possible.
  • Support is offered in English and, where a volunteer is available, in Gujarati or Urdu.
  • Information is written in clear UK English and can be read aloud on request.
  • This website is built to WCAG accessibility principles and works on a mobile phone.

Preparing for more languages

The website has been built so that translated content can be added in future without rebuilding the site.

If you experience discrimination

Tell us. Use the contact form and choose 'Community concern', or email sabir@bvuk.org. Complaints of discrimination are handled under our Complaints Procedure and, where appropriate, our Safeguarding Policy.
