Road Safety Reminders for Summer Travel

Increased travel during the summer months means it's a good time to review road safety, whether you are a driver, cyclist, or pedestrian.

With many families making journeys during the summer holidays, it's a good opportunity to remind ourselves of important road safety practices. Drivers should ensure their vehicles are in good condition for longer trips and plan routes to avoid fatigue. Take regular breaks and be aware of increased traffic. For cyclists and pedestrians, remaining visible to drivers is crucial. Wear bright clothing, especially in less well-lit areas or at dusk. Cyclists should ensure their bikes are roadworthy and lights are working correctly. Parents and guardians should talk to children about road safety. Emphasise looking both ways before crossing the road and using designated crossings where available. For comprehensive road safety information, please consult the resources provided by the local council or the Department for Transport. Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please contact us via the BVUK Blackburn contact page.
