Summer Safety: Staying Safe in the Sun and Outdoors

As summer continues, it's important to take precautions to stay safe and well, whether you are enjoying local parks or travelling.

With the warmer weather and school holidays, many of us will be spending more time outdoors. Please remember to protect yourself and your family from the sun's rays. This includes using high-factor sunscreen, wearing hats, and seeking shade, especially during the hottest parts of the day. Staying hydrated is also key. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Young children and older adults are particularly vulnerable to dehydration, so please keep a close eye on loved ones. If you are planning activities near water, whether it's a local lake or the coast, always be aware of water safety guidelines. Ensure children are supervised and consider taking necessary safety precautions. For more detailed advice on summer health and safety, please refer to the NHS website.
