BVUK Member Support Check

Privacy notice

Find out what you might be missing.

This notice explains how BVUK Blackburn (Bharuchi Vohora UK, Blackburn Branch) handles information in the Member Support Check. It should be read with our main privacy policy.

What we collect

Only the information you enter for the screening, and the details you give in any optional request for support. Every question can be skipped. The public screening never asks for bank or card details, passwords, authentication or security codes, or your National Insurance number.

Sensitive answers

Optional answers about health, disability, care needs or income may be sensitive personal data. They are only saved to your account, or shared with BVUK, if you give explicit consent first.

How we use it

Only to provide the check, to provide support you have asked for, to keep the service secure, and for necessary service administration.

Where it is kept

Your assessment is not sent to BVUK unless you choose to save it to your BVUK account, share it, or request volunteer help.

  • Don't save: answers stay in this browser tab and are cleared when you close it.
  • Save on this device: answers are stored only in this browser on this device (local storage). BVUK cannot see them. Anyone using this device and browser could, so delete them when you finish on a shared device.
  • Save to my BVUK account: answers are stored securely in your account. Only you can see them unless you choose to share them.

You can remove a saved assessment at any time using the Delete my assessment control on the Support Check start page. This clears it from this device and, if saved, from your account.

Who can see it

If you share your answers or send a help request, access is restricted to authorised BVUK staff and volunteers who need it to help you. You can turn account sharing off at any time. Your postcode is sent to postcodes.io only to find your council.

Official bodies

Nothing is sent automatically to the DWP, HMRC, Social Security Scotland, the Department for Communities, your council or any other official body. Any official application needs you to review it and take action yourself; BVUK never submits one for you without your clear confirmation.

How long we keep it

Information held by BVUK is kept only as long as it is needed for these purposes, in line with BVUK Blackburn's applicable retention policy and our legal obligations.

Your rights and contact

You can ask about access to, correction of or deletion of your information by emailing sabir@bvuk.org. You can also use our contact page. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Important

BVUK Blackburn is a community organisation, not a regulated financial or legal adviser. The Support Check is a screening and signposting tool, not an official entitlement decision.
